Words for making safe choices

Me & others · Responsible Decision-Making

Every day you make choices. A choice is what you pick to do. After every choice comes a consequence. A consequence is what happens next. Some consequences feel good. Some feel hard, like losing a toy.

ChoiceConsequence
You choose, then a consequence follows, good or hard.
Try it together

Sam breaks a toy by accident. He tells his mom the truth. Being honest is the responsible choice. His mom is proud, and that is a positive consequence.

Good to know

Rules are for keeping everyone safe. Rules also make things fair. Fair means everyone is treated the same way. If you break a rule, it is not fair to others.

Good to know

If you feel unsure, ask a trusted adult. A trusted adult keeps you safe. A parent or teacher can be a trusted adult. Telling them about a problem is the right choice.
